Question by David K: DC to AC power converter for a 12V/10Ah device?
I have an air compressor/pump (140 psi) that has a 12 volt cigarette plug meant for cars, but I need an adapter that can handle the power so I can use it at home.

It says it is 12V/10AH so what should I look for? Most cheap ones seem to only work with cell phones and GPS units.
I need something that isn’t too bulky and is fairly portable. Am I out of luck?

Sound like you need a 12 volt power supply that can handle at least 10 amps.

a conventional 10 amp supply is bulky!
    go with a “switching supply”.

check out the ham radio stores (www.gigaparts.com http://www.hamradio.com) for an Astron or a MFJ.
