I hope you show us how you tie an antenna on a tree during your 100W day event. 🙂

I'll be operating a digital station with K8BRC club… I'm looking forward to FD. This will be my second one since I got licensed, last year I worked with a friend as an E class station.

I plan on getting my mobile fiberglass mast out, string up my End Fed Dipole antenna, and running on my Hurricane generator. That may be the setup I need during this hurricane season, so using it during field day would be the bast option for me since we cancelled the field day due to Covid-19. KI5IBO

I'm hoping to operate from my local Ontario Provincial Park, Inverhuron Provincial Park, POTA VE-0233. Using my enclosed event trailer and various antennas. Check out my Google Map that I made with some of the POTA parks on it. My club call sign is VE3IHR..

You might want to check out VLS logger for offline use, I plan to use my old Android Tablet (Android 4.4.2 KitKat). With a 5000 mAh power brick I can log all day. In the tablet I use my 16G sd card to keep files like pdf copies of user manuals, Part 97, the current US band plan, event/contest rules and the backup ADIF files from the VLS logger. Once back in civilization and Wifi I can use Google Drive to copy the ADIF file over to my PC to import into my main log program.

Do have any worries that your tree covered camp site might make your solar array ineffective? Do you use your vehicle power to recharge batteries while in the field?

Can APRS be used in a simplex form (sans repeaters) as a digital mode for Field Day? If so, is there any standardization of how to do so, like another frequency or path settings?

Are you still happy with your new portable ATU? I'm looking for an ATU for the 891, but most need external power.

Hello Michael. How do you use the Z-11Pro II on automatic or semiautomatic for your 891? I've seen one videos that he says it has to be used on semiautomatic for the 891. thx.
