Icom Inc. has produced a nice PowerPoint compilation of all the great Amateur radio rigs that they have designed and manufactured over the years. We wanted to share it with you so here is an edited version that’s been converted to video format. Hope you enjoy it.
Excellent video, a trip through memory lane and many radios owned and used over the years!!
Nice video, but it needs some narration. I just happen to someone who’s just right for a project like this! de NN7W. http://www.voicespots.com
Nicely Done Icom! Keep pushing the envelope!
I like ICOM but, I keep my old IC-V82 all the time because the new models are inferior in radio quality. They have lower sensitivity, ICOM V82 is still the highest portable radio model ever created. This radio is fragile, parts are poorly folded, but provides the greatest range. It has a little too low microphone sensitivity, you need to speak very close to the radio housing. The material for the housing also in ICOM wear out quickly, Motorola is better in the housings. The IC-f70 is also a good radio. ICOM V8 (T3H on Europe) has a slightly harder casing and better shape ensuring lower material consumption (it is thinner and exerts less destructive forces), however its sensitivity is lower but the modulation is better, it also has a much more energy-efficient transmitter. Greetings to you, scientists and employees :-).
Please develop a portable hand-held radio station for CB / 27 Mhz.
Hi Icom! Nice vid. Question: How come Icom replacement antennas (FAS27U) and many others dont show what wattage they are rated for? 10w 20w etc. Where do I find this info?
I became interested in ham radio in the early 1980s and was licensed as G6XYZ in 1983. In those days Icom gear was expensive compared to its rivals. It took me many years to realise why but now I only use Icom, R8600, R9500, R8500, Icom IC 7610 plus assorted handhelds. Only Icom and Yaesu seem really interested in the ham market and only Icom build modern receivers. As you can see I have all the current Icom receivers and three of their handheld scanners. My favourite is the 8500, don’t ask me why it just is! 73de G6XYZ
I own 12 ICOM Ham Radios including the IC7800 and the IC9700. ICOM Radios R-O-C-K. I also have a new IC2AT and a new IC2A for good measure. ve4mm
Nice video! @Icom
IC-765 HF transceiver is missing – one of the best units ever made.
