Comparison of Digital Modes for Amateur Radio:
This comparison of DMR, DSTAR and YSF was given by Jim Keeley, W1JJK, at the 2017 Orlando Hamcation. Jim speaks about how the modes differ, how they work, and what features each one has. This is an information-sharing forum, and not meant to sway anyone to or from any particular mode.
where did you get the hat?
Where did you get the shirt?
another great video. I agree with you… on some parts I have to say"Welllllll… I don't think that's completely correct." But It was the best presentation I have seen. The fact that he does not push any certain DV mode over the other makes the difference. I hate watching comparison videos where the person is only one and shows it the whole way when it is a comparison not a vote of the best. And thank you very much….. now I am buying a DMR HT now. the MD-380. I wasnt sure before but I am now and would like to know if you are on to QSO with regularly or it is when you want type thing. I have the DV4Mini so I can have access but would like to connect with you and others down in Texas. Last Texas station I talked to was on HF and he never shut up…. Not a bad thing since I am a quiet but warm up type. So keep the videos coming and thank you for taking your own time to put these up. Tell Gary thanks from me for helping you making this possible and showing you more on the podcast part. 73, ad0am
Video presentations like these from around the country are the main reason why I subscribe to this channel. Thank you.
What I like most about amateur radio is the limited universal mode of communications.
What I dislike most about the all digital modes is the division it creates with the hams.
Or a more positive way of looking at the digital modes is they are experimental.
For me, I'm sticking with analog; until a technology becomes universal, non-proprietary, open source, license free.
